President Obama – Where’s the love?

A friend once told me I’m reflective. I suppose it’s true. Meaning, if I love someone, you can bet he or she loved me first. Same with despise, desire, and just about every other emotion in between.
I don’t understand unrequited love and have never, ever felt it. Makes no sense. If someone doesn’t see all that’s wonderful and terrific about you, how can you give your heart away to the bastard?
Which leads us to President Obama.
What the hell is happening to him?
The man was elected on a platform of change, elected with a mandate to do things differently. Nowhere in that mandate did it say we want more of the same. He professed his love and adoration for us, the middle class and working folks in this country. And we believed him.
Finally, a leader who didn’t just want our body, but saw what we had to offer as well. This country won’t thrive without us and so we loved him back and put him in office.
But now his words and promises, however eloquent, are ringing hollow.
First the economic issues, which Matt Taibbi outlines perfectly in his latest article, “Obama’s Big Sellout” for Rolling Stone.
Seems too late to do anything about that.
Now, President Obama wants to send more troops to Afghanistan. Tomorrow night, he will address the nation. So now is the time to make our voices heard.
Enough.
Call the White House today at 202-456-1111. Tell President Obama to send NO additional troops to Afghanistan, WITHDRAW the troops already there, begin serious DIPLOMACY with all parties to the conflict, and REDIRECT the money wasted on the Afghanistan war to people’s urgent needs at home.
Enough.
The affair is over.

I agree. I am bit disappointed with the lack of progress we have made in almost a year of him being in office. I just hope that my belief is right about him…that he knows what he is doing.
