A Message From Conservative Outpost About the Real Threat Facing America

Posted by Catherine on May 26, 2009 in Gay Rights |

It isn’t swine flu or a recession. It’s not North Korea or tight-fitting bras.

It’s not even killer treadmills.

The real threat facing America, according to Conservative Outpost, is gay marriage.

They sent an email imploring their followers to act immediately…or else.

I receive some crazy-ass emails (more on that later) but this takes the cake…

Dear Fellow Conservative (snicker):

Just a few weeks ago, gay marriages were held in Iowa by edict of their Supreme Court – and Vermont’s legislature legalized gay marriage in that state.

Just yesterday, the New Hampshire House of Representatives failed to pass a gay marriage bill by ONE vote. But it failed to pass because gay activists opposed the final version since it exempted pastors and churches from being forced to perform gay marriage!

Clearly our elected officials are out of touch.

Even now, liberal Democrats in Congress are discussing overturning the 1996 Federal Defense of Marriage Act, which defined marriage under federal law as the union of one man and one woman, and protected other states from being forced to recognize the gay marriages of other states.

Now this law – and the over 30 states that passed state marriage amendments – are in jeopardy.

The American people must stand up and say “No More”!

In state after state, the American people have spoken at the ballot box and declared that marriage is defined as the union of one man and one woman.

But radical gay rights activists, liberal judges and politicians are working to undermine the will of the American people.

Don’t let them succeed!

Let your elected officials hear from you.

Let them know that we demand that they respect the will of the voters and defend the traditional definition of marriage!

Don’t let the voices of the radical left be the only voices they hear.

What these God-fearing, some might say *douchebags* fail to understand is that the people who support equal rights for *all* Americans aren’t simply the voices of the radical left.

Even Republicans and Christian groups are starting to speak out and encourage fellow Holy Rollers to embrace their homosexual brothers and sisters. Maybe even with tongue.

Check out this website from a group of evangelicals who see the future…and it’s rainbow colored.

I say this to the religious people who oppose marriage equality:

You think we’re redefining marriage?

How can you accuse us of that when you’ve done something far worse?

You redefined love.

Finally, a Christian group I can get behind. Their take on the Lord might not jell with mine.

But at least they’re inclusive, kind, and loving.

I wish I could say that about all God’s people.
