Here We Go

Tomorrow John Edwards will announce that he is running for President of the United States. His vision includes:
  • Providing moral leadership in the world -- starting with Iraq, where we should begin drawing down troops, not escalating the war
  • Strengthening our middle class and ending the shame of poverty
  • Guaranteeing health care for every single American
  • Leading the fight against global warming
  • Getting America and the world to break our addiction to oil

Sounds good to me.

Seems anti-climactic after 2004 where he announced his candidacy on the Daily Show

What are you saying John? I don't hold a candle to Jon Stewart?

I bet I look better in my underwear than he does...

LOL :) Was talking about Edwards announcing now, period (on his web site, or at his press conference). That was anti-climactic.

I have no doubt you look better than Jon in undies.

I'd be interested in your opinion of whether Edwards can beat Obama or the other Clinton. I say he doesn't stand a chance against either - he, like Kerry, is yesterday's news.

The full field hasn't been set Mr. H... Al Gore might join the fray and that would make things more top-heavy and give Edwards less of a chance.

There are some true-believers with Edwards and they're going to drink the kool-aid no matter what happens. I do agree with you that Edwards is an afterthought right now (as are other likely candidates)...

I'm not so sure Edwards can beat Obama or Clinton or Gore or anyone else who might run. I like him, though. He's a good man. And I like that he wants to tackle some important issues - like our diminishing middle class and global warming.

If this gets posted twice - sorry!

After spending in a week in the Heartland, I am more convinced than ever that John Edwards can beat Clinton & Obama. I spoke with people who are not obsessed with politics. Teachers, parents, an FBI agent, business owners, etc & they like him. They would vote for him. They like his background, his optimism & his vision.

Edwards has been working in the trenches since leaving office & has been making a difference. For Americans & for Democrats. He was one of the hardest working Dems in helping take back the House & the Senate. He can win because he DOES. We need action, not rhetoric.

Tomorrow begins today. :)
